Hailey spent the weekend at her mimi and popi's house from Thursday night thru Sunday. I think they spent most of their time playing in her pool and swinging on the new swing they got her. On Saturday they met Uncle Jason and Auntie Ally for lunch and then went to the Children's museum ( I have never been but from these pictures it looks like a lot of fun). They stayed almost all afternoon and I don't think Hailey was the only one playing with all the toys. I wish I could of been there to see uncle Jason put on his puppet show but I guess he will just have to do it again next time.
While Hailey was away I worked on painting a desk for in her room and recovered the a bench for her as well. As soon as the curtain is done her big girl room will be complete. It was a little too quiet with her gone but we were able to get some stuff done, we are very happy to have her back and to hear the sound of her running around and destroying the house.
We met mimi and popi at Concord mills on Sunday for lunch and Hailey insisted on riding the carousel. She had so much fun and every time she would pass us she would just laugh, it was so cute. Since she was so cute riding the first time we let her ride again. The second time she paid more attention to the carousel and the other surroundings rather than watch her fan club.
So now we are back home trying go get back into our normal routine. Our back yard is supposed to be getting fenced in this week so now we will be able to let Hailey go free without having to worry about her running toward the road. She also got a John Deere Gator so as soon as she gets the hang of driving it we will post some pics of that. Have a great week!

The Beach

We went to the beach last week and had a great time. It was the first time in a while we were able to go for a whole week and it went by really fast. Mark Kat and Riley as well as Brian's Aunt, Uncle and cousin flew in and spent the week with us as well. Hailey took about three days to adjust to the sand and the water, but as you can see from the pictures it took her no time at all to adjust to Riley. She was all over him giving him hugs and kisses, I just hope she is this excited when the baby finally comes. Hailey had a blast playing with Riley and watching him play in the sand (he was playing in it before she would even touch it). By the last day she was going in the water all by herself and had no fear.
We took our family pictures on Friday morning since it was supposed to rain that afternoon and then we all went to the aquarium in Wilmington. Hailey loved it there but got a little scared when she saw the sharks. I think her favorite part of the trip was getting to ride on the ferry to and from the aquarium.
It was so nice to be able to spend time with family and we hope that we can see Mark, Kat and Riley again soon. As you can see from the pictures he is getting so big (5 months already).

The 4th

I know all of you who know Brian will not be surprised that our holiday started at 2:30am the Thursday before the 4th. We were leaving Charlotte by 3am just as he wanted. We arrived in Gallatin TN around 9am their time unpacked and headed to the lake. Hailey loved the boat, she didn't like the bottom of the lake so she wouldn't stand and play on her own, but as long as she was on the boat she was thrilled. She tried as hard as she could to drive but she still has a few more years before we let that happen. Brian took her out on a tube and she was smiling the whole time. I think we finally wore her out and she passed out while riding and slept for over an hour. Luckily we had enough gas to keep riding until she woke up.
She was the only little one there this time so she had lots of attention from all the cousins. It worked out great for us to have some free babysitters and I was even able to get out and try to play a little golf. This was the first time that I have played in over a year. We were playing best ball and surprisingly enough we used some of my shots so overall I was happy with my performance.
Since Hailey had been sick leading up to the trip she wasn't eating much, so imagine my surprise when we sat down to eat and she picked up the fried chicken from my plate and started chowing down (sorry mom, I don't know what she was thinking, ha ha). That was the first time she had ever seen fried chicken, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised this is exactly what she did with one of our egg-rolls one night while eating chinese.
The big hit this year was Rock Band for the wii. Hailey loved trying to play the drums and the guitar with all the older kids. There were a lot of us missing this year but we still managed to have a great time. Here is a shot of everyone in our T-shirts on the 4th. As usual Brian put on a great firework show with a fantastic finally.
All Hailey can talk about is the boat and loves to see the pictures from the trip. I think Brian has brainwashed her since it is his favorite holiday. Can't wait till next year to introduce the baby to all the crazy Schleicher fun.

Baby
I promise I will post about the 4th as soon as I get the pictures. One of the cousins is putting all the pictures from everyones camera's together for us so I don't have any right now.
We had a Dr.'s appointment today and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It took a while to find but once they did it was a strong heartbeat at 156. Right now if I had to guess I would say boy only because this pregnancy has been so different and the heartbeat is slower than Hailey's but I guess we will have to wait to find out. I have my ultrasound scheduled for August 20th. I hope everyone had a great holiday.

Some Firsts

This week was a week of firsts for Hailey. She has been (mostly) sleeping thru the night in her big girl bed. We are so proud of her and she loves to tell and show people her new bed. She also went and saw her first movie last week. Our local theater is having free movies every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this summer. We saw Charlotte's Web and Hailey loved all the animals. Grammy came with us and it helped to have two people because although Hailey payed attention to the movie she didn't sit thru the whole thing.
Mimi came on Thursday night so that we could go to Spartanburg SC on Friday to visit family that was visiting from PA. Hailey was supposed to go home with Mimi Thursday night but since she still had her diarrhea mimi and popi ended up spending the weekend here. Brian and I were able to get some errands done while they watched Hailey for us. On our errands we came across some really cute bedding for Hailey's room on sale and couldn't pass it up. So the pictures are of her new bedding. We are going to take the crib out of her room this week and finally get it organized and put together. I can't believe how fast she is growing up. I think with the new baby I will try to cherish everything a little more now that I realize how fast it really goes by.

Another Big step

This weekend we decided to put a big girl bed in Hailey's room. We asked her on Friday if she wanted a big girl bed to sleep in and she said yes and got very excited. Saturday morning Grammy and Papa came over and daddy and papa put the bed in Hailey's room while grammy and mommy went shopping for a mattress pad and bed rail. They also put up some cabinets in the laundry room so that we can have a little more storage.
As you can see from the picture Hailey was anxious to play on her bed.
She has done pretty well in her bed so far. She still isn't feeling good and is getting up in the night with diarrhea. The first night she slept from 8 till 1:30 and last night she slept from 7:30 until 3 in her bed. I am hoping that once her diarrhea is gone and she is feeling better that she won't have any problem transitioning to her big girl bed.
Once we find out the sex of the baby we will determine is Hailey will stay in her room or move to the other room. Once we decide that we are going shopping for some more room decorations and a bedding set. We are so proud of her for doing so well so far, she is getting so big. I just hope potty training will go as smoothly as this has so far.
The other pictures are of Hailey helping me with the laundry. I guess she thought it was easier to help load the dryer if she was inside (lol).

We didn't have a very good start to the weekend. Hailey woke up from her nap on Friday with a fever. We had late nights all weekend. Her fever seemed to be better by Saturday afternoon so we went to the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival. As you can see from the pictures Hailey just wasn't herself. She didn't mind being in the stroller as long as it was moving. She hasn't really eaten anything since Friday morning. On Sunday she was acting a little more like herself when we went over to grammy and papa's house for a cookout. She enjoyed playing in her little pool on the deck. When it was time for a nap we put her in her pack and play and we all ate lunch. We could hear her upstairs making some noises but we thought she was talking in her sleep. When Brian and I went upstairs to check on some things in the storage area we heard her playing in the room. Brian opened the door to check on her and we discovered that she can now climb out of the pack and play. So she had been upstairs playing the whole time and didn't ever take a nap. I think it might be time to start looking into some big girl beds.
