A weekend away

Hailey spent the weekend at her mimi and popi's house from Thursday night thru Sunday. I think they spent most of their time playing in her pool and swinging on the new swing they got her. On Saturday they met Uncle Jason and Auntie Ally for lunch and then went to the Children's museum ( I have never been but from these pictures it looks like a lot of fun). They stayed almost all afternoon and I don't think Hailey was the only one playing with all the toys. I wish I could of been there to see uncle Jason put on his puppet show but I guess he will just have to do it again next time.

While Hailey was away I worked on painting a desk for in her room and recovered the a bench for her as well. As soon as the curtain is done her big girl room will be complete. It was a little too quiet with her gone but we were able to get some stuff done, we are very happy to have her back and to hear the sound of her running around and destroying the house.

We met mimi and popi at Concord mills on Sunday for lunch and Hailey insisted on riding the carousel. She had so much fun and every time she would pass us she would just laugh, it was so cute. Since she was so cute riding the first time we let her ride again. The second time she paid more attention to the carousel and the other surroundings rather than watch her fan club.

So now we are back home trying go get back into our normal routine. Our back yard is supposed to be getting fenced in this week so now we will be able to let Hailey go free without having to worry about her running toward the road. She also got a John Deere Gator so as soon as she gets the hang of driving it we will post some pics of that. Have a great week!

The Beach

We went to the beach last week and had a great time. It was the first time in a while we were able to go for a whole week and it went by really fast. Mark Kat and Riley as well as Brian's Aunt, Uncle and cousin flew in and spent the week with us as well. Hailey took about three days to adjust to the sand and the water, but as you can see from the pictures it took her no time at all to adjust to Riley. She was all over him giving him hugs and kisses, I just hope she is this excited when the baby finally comes. Hailey had a blast playing with Riley and watching him play in the sand (he was playing in it before she would even touch it). By the last day she was going in the water all by herself and had no fear.

We took our family pictures on Friday morning since it was supposed to rain that afternoon and then we all went to the aquarium in Wilmington. Hailey loved it there but got a little scared when she saw the sharks. I think her favorite part of the trip was getting to ride on the ferry to and from the aquarium.

It was so nice to be able to spend time with family and we hope that we can see Mark, Kat and Riley again soon. As you can see from the pictures he is getting so big (5 months already).

The 4th

I know all of you who know Brian will not be surprised that our holiday started at 2:30am the Thursday before the 4th. We were leaving Charlotte by 3am just as he wanted. We arrived in Gallatin TN around 9am their time unpacked and headed to the lake. Hailey loved the boat, she didn't like the bottom of the lake so she wouldn't stand and play on her own, but as long as she was on the boat she was thrilled. She tried as hard as she could to drive but she still has a few more years before we let that happen. Brian took her out on a tube and she was smiling the whole time. I think we finally wore her out and she passed out while riding and slept for over an hour. Luckily we had enough gas to keep riding until she woke up.

She was the only little one there this time so she had lots of attention from all the cousins. It worked out great for us to have some free babysitters and I was even able to get out and try to play a little golf. This was the first time that I have played in over a year. We were playing best ball and surprisingly enough we used some of my shots so overall I was happy with my performance.

Since Hailey had been sick leading up to the trip she wasn't eating much, so imagine my surprise when we sat down to eat and she picked up the fried chicken from my plate and started chowing down (sorry mom, I don't know what she was thinking, ha ha). That was the first time she had ever seen fried chicken, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised this is exactly what she did with one of our egg-rolls one night while eating chinese.

The big hit this year was Rock Band for the wii. Hailey loved trying to play the drums and the guitar with all the older kids. There were a lot of us missing this year but we still managed to have a great time. Here is a shot of everyone in our T-shirts on the 4th. As usual Brian put on a great firework show with a fantastic finally.

All Hailey can talk about is the boat and loves to see the pictures from the trip. I think Brian has brainwashed her since it is his favorite holiday. Can't wait till next year to introduce the baby to all the crazy Schleicher fun.

Baby

I promise I will post about the 4th as soon as I get the pictures. One of the cousins is putting all the pictures from everyones camera's together for us so I don't have any right now.

We had a Dr.'s appointment today and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It took a while to find but once they did it was a strong heartbeat at 156. Right now if I had to guess I would say boy only because this pregnancy has been so different and the heartbeat is slower than Hailey's but I guess we will have to wait to find out. I have my ultrasound scheduled for August 20th. I hope everyone had a great holiday.
