We went on a spur of the moment shopping trip to Winston last week, and while we were there decided to drop in on Mimi at the office. Needless to say the shopping trip turned into a slumber party so while we were out shopping Hailey had to get some new pajamas. While waiting for our lunch date with Uncle Jason the next day Mimi put Hailey to work. Hailey's new official title is Residency Director, aka Mimi's boss. Doesn't she look so professional!!

Monkey's Uncle

We had a pretty uneventful week this week. There were some really early mornings because Hailey woke us up with her screaming. We thought she was cutting some more teeth but by Thursday she only wanted to sleep while being rocked and did not want to be laid down. We decided to take her to the Dr. on Friday and sure enough she has a slight ear infection. We tried out our new MOPS group on Friday as well. I think it will be fun and a good chance for me to get some time to visit with other moms and not have to be chasing Hailey around the room making sure she doesn't get into things she shouldn't be.
On Saturday Hailey spent the morning with her Grandpa while Gatha and I went to a consignment sale and Brian mowed the lawn. We all went out to lunch before we headed to king for the rest of the weekend. The weather was so perfect and we actually had to have long sleeves. Hailey looked so cute dressed for fall. We are excited about the weather cooling down so we can play outside more.
Sunday was Uncle Jason's birthday so we spent the day watching football and had a late lunch at mimi and popi's house. Hailey even had on her Panther onesie but it didn't seem to bring them any luck. We had fun hanging out, we got out some of mine and Jason's old toys for Hailey to play with and she loved them. It was weird seeing our old toys and it brought back a lot of memories.

By the time we got home we were all pretty tired Hailey grabbed her milk and went to lounge in her room and relax a little before bed. She is just too cute!!

Walking

The picture above is Hailey pulling a bow out of her hair. I thought it would be cute to see if a bow would keep in what little hair she has. As you can see, she didn't want anything to do with that bow. I hardley got it in her hair and turn around to take a picture before she was pulling it out and throwing it on the floor.

Well as you can see we really do have a big girl on our hands she is WALKING!! I can't believe it. She was taking about 6 steps on her birthday and then ever since then she just keeps doing it more day by day and getting better at it all the time. As soon as she hears the garage door open she starts walking to the door to say hello to her daddy. Of course he loves it, what a great thing to come home to every day!! This weekend we went out and bought her some shoes for her to wear. She now has 4 pairs of shoes so she has options for whatever outfit she wants to wear. She is still a little wobbly and the shoes don't help much but she is getting the hang of it. We are so proud of our big gir!

Labor Day

For Labor day we dropped Hailey off at her Mimi and Poppi's house for the weekend. Then Brian, Gatha and I headed to Virginia. We spent most of Saturday at the Hillsville Flea market. Hailey got a really cute piano from her Aunt Becky. Then on Sunday we went biking on the Creeper Trail. We had a blast and we already have plans to do it again soon. We rented bikes and then they take you up this mountain and drop you off and you bike along the trail back down the mountain. The path is an old railroad track and there are some cute stops to make along the way and a lot of nice views. You can also rent baby tent things to attach to the back of your bike, so next time we are taking Hailey with us. It took us about 3 hours to get down the mountain.

When we got back home we introduced Hailey to her piano and she loves it. She will bang on the keys and dance to the music she makes. Luckily Grandma has a small piano for her when she gets bigger just in case she decides to wants to take acutal lessons someday.

Birthday Girl

Sorry for the delay in updating, the computer connection has been very slow, but now the problem is fixed. It is hard to believe that Hailey is 1. Here are pics from her first birthday party. We had plenty of food and almost 50 people were there. Needless to say it was a little overwhelming and Hailey didn't know what was going on.
Some of her friends that were there helped her open her gifts, which was good considering Hailey was almost asleep since she missed her nap. Once she realized that the gifts were for her she perked up a little.
My mom Gatha and I had spent all day Friday getting ready for the party and I decorated Hailey's cake all myself, I really wanted it to be special. I didn't realize how much work went into doing this so I am not sure that this will be a tradition.

It was a great party and she got a lot of nice things. There were some friends that were unable to make it and we missed them but all and all we had a wonderful time. I am excited to see what the next year will bring.
