Our Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas. It started the first of December with a Lock family Christmas at mimi and popi's house. They still had a little snow on the ground so Hailey got to make some snowballs. It was so cute watching the girls and Mr. Maddox play together and to see how our family is growing.

Hailey had her Christmas program in mid December and her class sang The Little Drummer Boy. She didn't sing as loud as last year but she was certainly the most animated in her class banging on her drum.

We had a Christmas at gammy and papa's house right before Christmas and made some cookies. Unfortunately Mackenzie and I were not feeling well but it was nice to relax and not worry about the house getting messed up before the big day.

Mimi and Popi spent the night on Christmas Eve and then Gammy and Papa came over Christmas morning. We had a great breakfast and started opening gifts. Let's just say that we are officially a girly house now. But now we have two doll houses some barbie dolls and lots of Strawberry Shortcake and Angelina Ballerina toys now. The train table has been moved up and the basketball and soccer stuff has been moved outside. Hailey was very excited about the snow we got on Christmas. Mackenzie got out for just a few minutes to play but I think we had her too bundled up so she couldn't move and really enjoy it. She was still coughing and had a runny nose so I didn't really want her out long anyway.

Here are some pictures of our festivities this month. Hope everyone else had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

Never say never

You know how when you are young and childless and you think you know everything. Well I always wondered how people could let their children out of the house with clothes that don't match, I always said my child will never look like that. Well, I was wrong. Hailey has become quite the fashionista and loves picking out her own clothes. I have had to bite my tongue quite a few times and remember that she is a kid and she thinks she looks great and I don't want to crush her creative spirit. Here is a picture of the outfit we are wearing to the library today.

Plus there is a picture of the finished bench with the cushions and pillows. We have loved the bench so far and not that we have a comfy cushion I am sure we will use it much more.

Santa

Saturday we went and had breakfast at church and got to visit with Santa.

Mackenzie was getting over an ear infection and not really on her normal schedule yet. The whole time we were eating breakfast she was acting up and wouldn't eat anything. We were the first group in line to see Santa and so far all the kids had done great. I was certain that my girls would be the first to cry for Santa.

They did fantastic! Hailey walked right up so him and handed him her letter and told him what she wanted. She sat on his knee and then we put Mackenzie on his other knee. Hailey looked right at the camera and smiled while Mackenzie just stared at the floor.

We had a great visit with the big guy in red but we are also teaching the girls the true meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate this wonderful time of year. God Bless you all and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

First Haircut

Well we finally decided it was time to get Mackenzie's hair cut. We didn't cut much just a trim to shape everything up but it was still a big day. She did really well and loved sitting in the fire truck.

Soccer is done, now what?

The Green Beans finished up their season the other weekend. Hailey had a blast playing and learning a new sport and she was so excited when she got her "cool trophy" as she puts it. So now that soccer is over what will take up all our time apart from the holidays?

PROJECTS!!

We did repaint the living room and all the hallway about a month ago. We bought this old painters ladder at the flea market in August and are now using it as sort of a picture frame.

Our other project is our new window bench in the kitchen. I can't wait for this project to be completed. Not only will it provide us with a lot more seating in the kitchen but also storage as well. We built it to where each section lifts up and we can store a lot of kitchen items that we don't use very often to make space in our cabinets. We are in the process of picking out fabric and making some cushions for it as well as some throw pillows to coordinate. Of course this has inspired some other changes so we will probably re-cover the kitchen chairs to match the cushion and then make curtains for the living room to match the pillows and tie everything together.

Trick or Treat

We went to the Asbury house again for their annual Halloween party. Hailey was a bee and Mackenzie was a flower ( she would not keep the hood on). Hailey was really into Halloween this year. She loved seeing all the houses decorated and yesterday she kept asking to put her costume on and go trick or treating. She and Tyler and some other kids had so much fun running door to door.

Mackenzie did great at the first house and she got two suckers and then she was done. She just carried around her suckers and didn't want to walk anymore so she got carried the rest of the time and only got a few things of candy. We all had a great time.

Another Pumpkin Patch

We visited my aunt and uncle in SC the other weekend (aka nana and papa paul) and took them to a pumpkin patch/hay-ride. The girls had a great time, they got to feed cows and see some pigs as well as pick out some pumpkins. There was also homemade ice-cream at the end of the hay-ride so the girls loved that.

The place we took them was Strawberry Hills farm. They had a trail that the wagon went on and had all kinds of decorations to keep everyone entertained on the way. When we got to the bridge a troll came out and we had to ask permission to pass. It was really cute and we all had a great time.
